A Study on the Relationship between Relatives by Marriage in the Jiangnan Region during the Ming and Qing Dynasties: A Case Study of the Zhuangs in Piling

Abstract: Digital humanities is a cross field of traditional history, literature,computer, and multimedia, of which text analysis and text mining are important aspects. The complexity of ancient works in terms of text also becomes the main difficulty of digital humanities research. As one of the three pillars of Chinese history, genealogy has important research value. From the perspective of digital humanities and taking the genealogy of the Zhuangs in Piling as the corpus, the paper visually presents the situation and changes of the family marriage in Jiangnan region through basic statistical analysis and social network analysis. In addition,the paper provides a new way to study the relationship between genealogical characters by means of digital humanities.
