Abstract: This paper reviews the common issues in the acquisition practice of the literature of the
Republic of China period. Analysing the criteria, influencing factors, and principles of acquisition policy, it
recommends that a library should formulate collection development policy and promote acquisition of such
collections according to its functions, orientation and existing collections.
