Comparative Study on the Application of InCites Platform andSciVal in the Scientific Research Evaluation

Abstract

Abstract: Integrating literature review, online survey and user experience, the paper first compared the
modules and evaluation indexes of InCites platform (including InCites, ESI and JCR) and SciVal. Using
the empirical analysis of environmental science conducted by Beijing Normal University as a case study, it
concludes the focus and disadvantages of each platform from the common perspectives of scientific research
evaluation, namely, evaluation of disciplines and institutions, research frontier, scholars and research teams
assessment, cooperation evaluation and exploration of cooperation potentials, journal submission and
funding institutions.
