Design and Implementation of inBooks Digital Humanities
Tool: A WeChat Mini Program Based on the Open Data of
Shanghai Library

Abstract

Abstract: In order to offer readers more access to digital humanities resources and to improve the use of these resources in cultural institutions, this paper designed a digital humanities tool to enable readers to obtain digital humanities resources through paper books. Based on the open data of Shanghai Library and Internet datasets, the inBooks WeChat mini program was implemented using OCR, NER, and entity relation extraction. With inBooks, readers can use mobile phones to take photos of books to obtain corresponding digital resources. At the same time, inBooks builds a personalized knowledge network to help form a knowledge system on the part of readers. The system makes it easier and more convenient for readers to acquire digital humanities resources. Its framework has loose coupling characteristics, which indicates room for more digital humanities applications.
