Abstract:

The infantile period is a critical time in one’s life. Due to the busy parents, the characteristics of infant growth and other factors, the literacy education in this period is easy to be ignored. Literature review and web-based investigation are used to exposit the early literacy promotion practices of American public libraries in two aspects. It draws four positive lessons from the analysis: first, to focus on systematicness of the early literacy promotion and make sure of the right role which public library shall play; second, to expand targeting and subdivide targeting; third,to focus on the multilateral supports from all society while mining the library resources to promote early literacy;and finally, to improve the regular services and try to provide a special service at the same time.
