The Impact of Age Distribution on the Evaluation of Cited Documents: Taking Physics for Example

Abstract:

This paper analyses the cited age distribution of the books, articles and theses on physics by citations, and it discusses how long the document can be evaluated after they are published. The analysis index include publishing year, the year when the paper is cited firstly and so on. The paper concludes that
evaluation of articles and theses takes 4-7 years, whereas evaluation of books takes 6-10 years. It also concludes that the duration of climax and high-low of climax number could also be the reference index of evaluation.
