Realistic Dilemmas and Practical Approaches to the Construction of China’s Digital Humanities Academic Community

Abstract:

Clarifying the dilemmas and countermeasures for building a digital humanities academiccommunity is an inevitable requirement for the prosperity of digital humanities research in China. Thispaper takes the widely recognized model of academic community as a reference to analyze the corecomponents of a digital humanities academic community. Through online research and case studies andin light of the current development of digital humanities in China it summarizes the realistic dilemmasfaced in community building at the present stage and proposes the practical pathways for future growth.The study finds that the research subject field activity space and mechanism are the basic elements of such a community. Present dilemmas include the absence of a comprehensive theoretical system the lackof independent and authoritative academic organizations insufficient extensive and timely communication platforms and the absence of targeted policy guidelines. In response the paper proposes that rationalization specialization internationalization and localization are the practical approaches for thefuture construction of the digital humanities academic community.
