Abstract: Interactive digital narratives are profoundly reshaping the preservation inheritance andinnovation of cultural heritage. However existing research lacks a systematic theoretical framework and aholistic developmental perspective. Based on literature review and analysis this study reveals thetheoretical genealogy and evolutionary characteristics of interactive digital narratives in the context ofcultural heritage further constructing an ecological framework that encompasses multidimensionalelements and their interrelated mechanisms. The research demonstrates that this field is undergoing severaltransitions theoretically from technological determinism to the dialectical integration with digitalhumanities technologically from singular applications to intelligent integration narratively from formalinnovation to cultural interpretation and practically from unidirectional presentation to immersiveexperience and social collaboration. Based on a profound analysis of the innovation landscape the studyargues that future research should prioritize cultural value preservation as its core leverage technologicalempowerment as its driving force and foster sustainable cultural narrative ecosystems throughinterdisciplinary collaboration and multi-stakeholder co-creation thereby promoting the creativetransformation and innovative development of cultural heritage.
