Progress in Multi-Level Education of Information Resource Management in Chinese Mainland: 2022-2025

Abstract:

The rebranding of Information Resource Management as a first-level discipline for graduate education has presented new opportunities and challenges for the professional education in this field.Based on previous research this study aims to accurately grasp the latest development trend of the discipline through collecting and analyzing professional education data at all levels from 2022 to 2025.Research has found that ① The scale of the discipline cluster in Library Information and Archival Science and Information Resource Management has further expanded. As of August 2024 there are atotal of 125 programs at the undergraduate level and above including 50 undergraduate programs 106master‘s 56 academic and 90 professional 21 doctoral programs 16 postdoctoral mobile research stations and 4 vocational colleges. ② The discipline distribution is more balanced which has to some extent improved the previously imbalanced pattern of relatively concentrated resources. However disciplinary structure continues to be optimized showing a stable scale of undergraduate education and arapid development of master’s education-particularly in applied fields. Doctoral education continues togrow steadily. Overall the discipline is in a critical period of improving quality efficiency transformation and upgrading. In the future it should align closely with national strategic prioritiesaccelerate the construction of  new liberal arts strengthen the integration of science-education andindustry-education highlight the cultivation of interdisciplinary and applied talents and enhance itsability to serve economic and social development. We should leverage our own advantages deepen cross disciplinary integration actively expand cutting-edge emerging fields and seize the opportunity in thenew round of technological revolution and industrial transformation.
