Abstract:

The metadata of sci-tech periodicals has been included in the scope of library construction. The primary issue of metadata integration is unifying and combining the digital journal metadata frommetadata providers with the self-processed metadata based on printed journals. The paper sorts out thedifferences between printed and digital journal metadata in terms of data sources, generating methods, sources of description information, and bibliographic standards. It studies typical examples of differencesin journal varieties, journal issues, and journal articles, and puts forward a plan for unifying andintegrating printed and digital journal metadata in the end, as well as demonstrating the plan in practice.
