Case Studies of Subject Services Supporting College/Department Management and Decision-making

Abstract: Shanghai Jiao Tong University Library, in view of the university’s vision to become the worldclass
university, formulated the “Subject Service Supporting Management and Decision-making” strategy.
Giving full play to the professional strength in intelligence analysis, the library conducted in-depth cooperation
with colleges and the university as a whole. Customized subject development trend analysis, talent assessment,
international competitiveness analysis and high-level journal selection are among the services that have achieved
remarkable results. Through the three typical cases of high-level journal selection, frontiers in the field of
quantum information, and decision support for international cooperation, the paper analyzses in depth the value
library creates for college/department management and decision-making. These service models could potentially
promoted to be built in other higher learning institutes.
