Exploring the Development and Application of Readers’ Knowledge from the “Readers’ Salon”

Abstract: The ongoing reading promotion activities have promoted the deepening of research on user
knowledge resources. By learning from the “Readers’ Salon” of Shanghai Jinshan Library, the paper
explores the application of readers’ knowledge resources through Readers’ Salon activities, and taps
library’s cultural value during the reading promotion activities. It reveals that readers provide knowledge or
intellectual support for the library while obtaining services from it. The paper focuses on how libraries can
actively understand, develop and gather readers from the perspective of user resource construction, making
readers a new energy source for the library to carry out social services in the long run.
