Abstract:

Rentian Baojian is a note-style book on Buddhism formed in Song Dynasty. Its author is not Lianquan Tanxiu, the disciple of Huanglong Huinan, but belongs to another Tanxiu, a monk in the area south of Yangtze River in the mid Southern Song Dynasty. This book was now and then recorded and quoted
in Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties but gradually to a much lesser extent, thus finally disappearing. But fortunately, it was published in Japan frequently, thus resulted in the three versions of Gozan, Kanbun and Manji Zoku-zokyo. It puts down various aspects of the faith among the Song people and is of significance
in the research on the history of religion and that of thought.
