Abstract:

To address the issue of the poor efficiency of OPAC due to the lack of retrieval prompts, the paper studies the demand, logic, design, and practices of retrieval prompts. By means of Ajax, JavaScript, Css and database, we could collect, save, query and display subject words, as well as building the thesaurus by analyzing the characteristics of subject words, the data structure of thesaurus, and designing the plan of collecting and storing subject words. Then we could enable the functions of retrieval prompts such as the popular subjects recommendation, input suggestion, spelling check, query expansion, English explanation and internal text link as well as cluster results and books recommendation, providing the real-time, rich and scientific retrieval prompts for users.
