Abstract:

The National Year of Reading was an initiative developed and driven by the Australian Library and Information Association, state libraries and library associations of Australia with the vision shared by the whole nation to promote reading culture and to make Australia a nation of readers. With full supports from the government, enthusiastic participation of all Australians, and professional evaluations, the literacy campaign proved to be a great success and a sustainable effort.
