Abstract:

Zhao Wanli (1905—1980) was a famous scholar in the field of library science and classicstudy. During Zhao Wanli’s era, the main way of communication was by the correspondence. The mostcomplete collection recorded the information about the correspondences of Zhao Wanli is a book namedas The Chronological Biography of Zhao Wanli written by Dr. Liu Bo, however, there are still someomissions in that book. In this article, two letters of Zhao Wanli have been analyzed by textual research,the one was written by Li Fangfu in 1946 and the another one was written by Zhao Wanli in 1952. Bothtwo letters were not collected in Dr. Liu’s book. These two correspondences involve many importantevents such as the National Roosevelt Library and the Song edition of Jin Shi Lu, which are of greatreference value for the study of library history.
