Abstract: Zhao Shanyu’s Southeast Enterprising Yudi Tongjian is China’s earliest monograph on historical military geography. Although his book was published, it has been rarely circulated. The Song Dynasty’s remnant edition collected in Taiwan is the only one preserved so far. The book not only includes Zhao Shanyu’s reviews and commentaries on the histories of the offensive and defensive battles from the Three Kingdoms Period to Liang Chen Period and related geographical researches, but also preserves a large number of topographical records and drawings from the Southern and Northern Dynasties to the Tang and Song Dynasties. The book has extremely high historical and geographic value.
