Abstract: Among the manuscript collections at Sichuan Provincial Library, many of them are manuscripts by Liu Xianxin. There are 77 kinds of manuscripts with 5531 pages in total, making Sichuan Provincial Library the leading institution in China collecting Liu’s manuscripts. In this article, I will discuss how the library can make good use of this precious and important resource, in regard to its collecting, organizing and protection. Hopefully, this exploration will be thought-provoking for how to protect, do the research into and make good use of rare materials in the library setting.
