Abstract:

E-books are an essential component in the construction of library resources. An effective
duplication-checking method can avoid redundant acquisition of the same resource, ensure the efficient use
of budget, and enhance the quality of resources, as well as reducing the workload of librarians. Due to the
limitations of ISBN, the paper proposes a new duplication-checking strategy: checking for multifple fields
after the standardization of key fields. Tongji University Library developed an E-book duplication-checking
system based on the strategy and proved its reliability after several years’ practices. The system also improves
the quality of library resources.
