Abstract: The research on knowledge organization originated from the field of library and information science, and has been continuously influenced by the development of information technology. With the vigorous development of generative artificial intelligence, knowledge organization research is facing new challenges and opportunities. The paper first analyzes the nature of knowledge organization through a four-dimensional analytical framework, thereby establishing a unified research paradigm. It then dialectically analyzes the empowering role of technology in knowledge organization. Furthermore, it discusses the mutual reinforcement between large language models and knowledge organization, enhancing the integration of human and machine intelligence capabilities. Finally, it proposes four aspects for knowledge organization research in the new era.
