Abstract:

Tian Haoqian who is a native of Jizein Guangping in the Ming Dynasty traveled to theJoseon Dynasty during the reign of Chongzhen in the Ming Dynasty and became the first ancestor of theGuangpingtian Clan in Joseon Dynasty. At the beginning of the 18th century His sons traveled to theQing Dynasty accompanying the Joseon Mission three times and successively sought out the ancestors􀆳edicts portraits lineage maps and other materials. They compiled the Shuxianlu which recorded theancestors􀆳 epitaphs and the Xunyuanlu which recorded the process of seeking roots. In the 1760s TianHaoqian􀆳s great-grandchildren combined the original genealogy and created the Korean genealogy basedon some materials mentioned above and specially published the Family History in Jiashen Year. Thecompilation of the genealogy of the Guangpingtian Clan aimed to highlight their profound thought ofrespecting the Ming Dynasty the clear lineage and the recognition of the Korean society. As theachievement Genealogy and Family History are special cases in the history of East Asian genealogywhich have high document value and historical value and are worthy of attention.
