Abstract: The Manuscripts of Late Qing Dynasty Celebrity Diaries Collected in Suzhou Museum compiled and published by Suzhou Museum contains a book entitled Diary on the Way to the North in Ji Chou. The original edition has no author, and the Suzhou Museum has designated the author as a clansman of the Pan Family in Suzhou. Based on reading the whole book, the author uses the literature of genealogy, chronicle, chorography and the imperial examination paper to verify meticulously the characters and events in the diary. Thereby the work has verified that the author of this book is not a clansman of the Pan Family, but named Peng Tongsun, who is a clansman of the Peng Family in Changzhou, Suzhou in the Qing Dynasty. The work also analyzes the reason why the original author of Suzhou Museum is wrong. After determining the author, this paper also discusses the historical documentary value of Diary on the Way North in Ji Chou in famliy, imperial examination and society in the Late Qing Dynasty.
