Abstract: Under the background of the construction of New Liberal Arts, Chinese library science education should innovate on the basis of Chinese characteristics, and give a good answer to “who to cultivate, how to cultivate and for whom to cultivate”. By analyzing the problems existing in the library cause, the connotation of the library spirit and the core values followed by the library circles, this paper points out that the mission of Chinese library science education is to “cultivate the builders and successors of Chinese library cause”, the foundation is to establish the personal value criterion of “patriotism, loyalty to library cause, love books, and care for readers and libraries”, and the basic task is to cultivate the social value orientation of “freedom, equality, justice, rule of law”.
