Abstract:

Chorography is a special type of local literature. This paper discusses the problems of classification of chorography in Chinese Library Classification (CLC) (5th Edition). Through examining the definitions of chorography and similar local literature types, it fully analyzes and explains the background and reasons why these categories are added in CLC. It uses Beijing local literature as an example to compare these literature categories in CLC and Beijing Local Collection Classification, further highlighting the usefulness and importance of CLC’s chorography categories.
