Abstract: Public opinion research is a new inter-discipline of social science and natural science and has attracted much attention. It’s not only an essential part of the basic theory of public opinion, but also deepens and widens the basic theory. Nowadays, the research of Internet public opinion is drawing attention from all walks of life. This paper collects about two thousand published papers on CSSCI, which involve Internet public opinion from 1998 to 2013. At first, the author studies the main research groups with cluster analysis among these years. And then, he identifies five research focuses and the themes of research frontier by analyzing high-frequency words and burst terms with pathfinder algorithm. Finally, in order to recognize the dynamics mechanism of development of Internet public opinion in China, this paper probes into the knowledge base of research focuses and frontiers.
