Abstract:

  The paper analyses history book review data collected from CSSCI journals, and concludes that history book reviews occupy only a small portion of history literature, that most of history journals publish book reviews, that such book reviewers are all senior professionals. And that most of history book reviews nowadays are only one or three years away from the publication date of the books concerned. It also raises the questions concerning their shortage of accuracy, professionalism and academic value.
