Abstract: By way of literature search, the paper reviews the current situation of research on the cooperation mechanism of libraries, archives and museums at home and abroad, advocates that cultural institutions could collaborate in digital resource construction, cultural heritage preservation, joint-use of facilities, disclosure of government information and community education programs. Cooperation among cultural institutions is conducive to optimizing collections, broadening the user community, attracting external funding and improving services, but it also faced with such challenges as policy-making, staff training, database construction, standard formulation, differences of organizational culture and intellectual property. The authors propose that cultural institutions should actively carry out cooperative projects, develop collections and improve services, so that they can better preserve and share cultural resources.
