A Study on Pieces of Dunhuang Buddhist Manuscripts of the Foshuo Wuliang Dacijiao Jing Collected in the Library of Shanxi Normal University

Abstract:

Foshuo Wuliang Dacijiao Jing is a fragmental manuscript which written in the Tang dynastyand now is collected in the library of Shanxi Normal University. According to the characteristics of itscharacters papers and formatting combined with the information of diaspora collection description andexpert opinions it can be determined that this manuscript is the Dunhuang manuscript of the TangDynasty in the 8-9th century. This manuscript has common characteristics with the Russian collectionnumber is Дx02723 in terms of calligraphic style and format. Based on investigations of the contentcontinuation incomplete characters crack docking and the process of literature circulation it is foundthat they are likely two parts of the same manuscript and can be rejoined . This research also made a fulltextcorrecting and recording of the Foshuo Wuliang Dacijiao Jing. As a newly discovered Dunhuangliterature this Foshuo Wuliang Dacijiao Jing has certain value in the aspects of version textual researchscripture collation and restoration of fragments and should be helpful for the study of Buddhistapocrypha.
