Abstract: In the initial stage, the idea of deinstitutionalization promoted the development of library science, but then produced the negative effect, giving rise to the phenomena of “generalization” and “weakening”. The paper explains the origin and development of the deinstitutionalization and points out that we must recognize the mission of library science that goes back to its very beginning is an important topic.
