Abstract: University libraries aim at transformation from information resource repositories to academic commons, and library space service is one of the core services. The purpose of this paper is to provide some reference for the research and practice of library space reconstruction in China base on the case study of the public-funded university libraries’ space reconstruction projects in Singapore. It analyses the reconstructing approaches of four learning spaces - collaborative and social space, sanctuary space, resource and service support space, and campus culture and community space, and elaborates on their project outcomes. Three strategies are proposed for university libraries to reconstruct space in China. University libraries should proactively analyse patrons’ needs, rationally allocate the four learning spaces, and adopt space management methods based on evaluation
