MARC21 Amendment Under the RDA Cataloging Rules

Abstract

Abstract:

Resource Description and Access (RDA) is the new cataloguing rule in digital environment,
which is inevitably incompatible with the old MARC21 format in one way or another. Based on an
elaboration of the MARC21 amendments, the article focuses on the samples given by the Library of
Congress in MARC standards to illustrate how MARC21 should be revised to meet the requirements of
new elements in RDA rule.
