Exploring the Relation Between Users’Continual Knowledge Seeking and Contribution Intention

Abstract:

Users’ continual knowledge sharing behavior in virtual community is the lifeblood of the latter.It consists of both knowledge contribution and knowledge seeking. Unique in their own way, contribution and seeking are closely interrelated with and inseparable to each other. Based on self-perception theory
and consistency principle, the current study develops a model to explore the relationship between users’continual knowledge contribution and seeking intention in virtual community. Questionnaire survey was conducted in this study, 220 valid data collected, and the PLS modeling method employed to conduct the data analysis. The study indicates that users’ continual knowledge seeking intention in virtual community has a significantly positive effect on their enjoyment in helping others, reciprocity and perceived usefulness,and the enjoyment in helping others as well as reciprocity has a significantly positive effect on users’continual knowledge contribution intention.
