《中华大帝国史》英译本、中译本和西班牙语本考辨

摘要： 5个世纪以来，《中华大帝国史》一直在国际学术界有着重要的影响。这部读本于1585年由西班牙政治家和学者胡安·冈萨雷斯·得·门多萨（Juan Gonz lez de Mendoza，1545—1618）以西班牙语书写完成，同年在意大利的首都罗马推出了第一版。该读本的出版，终于使得欧洲社会构建起了一个从物质到精神层面的完整的中国形象，乃至于该读本成为之后欧洲近200年来书写中国形象的范本。笔者对1998—2020年的23年来，海内外学者在汉语语境下，公开发表的以该读本为史料的专题性研究进行了梳理，发现其中一致凸显的基本问题在于，研究者普遍未对版本进行考辨就加以使用。为此，本文对上述学者所用3种语言版本的底本进行了逐一考辨，指出了中国学者对其所用版本的错误与模糊认知，理清了其与笔者认为的最翔实可靠的《中华大帝国史》西班牙语本之间的渊源与差异。最终，本文旨在为中国学者研究《中华大帝国史》提供翔实的版本参考依据。

Abstract: For five centuries, The History of the Kingdom of China has traditionally had a significant influence on the international academic community. The book shaped the first time a complete image of China for the Spanish Royal Family and the entire European society. The paper reviewed the investigation works specialized in this topic published in the Chinese context over 23 years from 1998 to 2020 and found that one of the principal problems was lack of justifications for the use of editions. In view of this, the paper examined the master copies of the English, Chinese and Spanish editions of the book of Mendoza, investigated their relations with the final revised Spanish edition promised by Mendoza, and pointed out the mistakes of Chinese scholars on their use of editions. The paper aims to provide Chinese scholars with detailed edition information about The History of the Great and Mighty Kingdom of China.
