Abstract:

Zhongxing Lishu and Continuation of Zhongxing Lishu, both completed during the Southern
Song dynasty, were spread only in the form of hand-written copy, and later were lost. During the reign of the
Jiaqing emperor of the Qing dynasty, Xu Song ordered the academics of Complete Collection of Tang Prose
to extract them from Yongle Dadian as the original manuscript. Based on it, Xu Song wrote the reviews which
was seen as his refined transcript. In the meanwhile, other clean scripts as well as some original manuscripts
were submitted to Long Yuanren for movable-type printing, but in vail, which was Xu Song’original recollected
copy. The present five editions all originated from the original manuscript and the refined transcript
mentioned above.
